Aaaaah the Dutch summer?.. Cold and drizzly one day, freezing and grey the next.

Today is the exception. It?s 25 degrees without a cloud in sight. Of course I’m stuck in the office all day but tonight I’m planning to kick back on the roof. July was fun. Work wise I’m busy and some of my work is interesting. I’m over the politics though and some of my colleagues are driving me up the wall. I guess that was the good thing about Accenture, when you got sick of people you rolled onto a new project. Socially I’m even busier. There was a cooking evening for Menno’s birthday. Basically you go with a group, take a cooking class for 4 hours and then eat the results together. I was responsible for the risotto. Given that I consider myself a bit of a risotto expert I was horrified when my rice turned out crunchy. The rest of the meal was delish.

I just got back from a weekend in England. I took a look at Cambridge and the Moto GP. I slept in a tent again (is anyone else noticing a frightening trend here??) Even though we copped flack for showing up to the camping site with a big BMW, designer deck chairs and a fully motorised pump for the air mattress, I got the last laugh by sleeping like an angel.

I’ve also been busy on the tennis circuit. I’ve had all sorts of weirdos inviting me to play a match. My favorite is Hessel. He’s a very crazy 5ft, 40-year old man who spends every second off the court talking about how all immigrants are dirty criminals determined to bring down the glory of Holland. Go figure. We play every week or two and I swear you could write your PhD on this guy. At the moment, we’re planning a big party for this Saturday. I’ll let you know how it goes.
